National Read Across America Day is March 2nd, Dr. Suess's Birthday, so we are doing a Reading Awareness/ Read Across America week at my work. It was my brain child and I've put a lot of work into bring it to fruition. Many things did not go as hoped, it was supposed to be a month and more of a community event. Our community planner was supposed to reach out to local libraries and literacy groups but never did. Anyway here's our reading corner.
We're offering free books for both kids and adults. The totebags are filled with a book and other fun stuff. The top ones are adult and the bottom are for kids. We made up some book meme tees, coffee mugs and reading journals.
Anyway now that it's up and going it's other peoples problem. I now get to move on to getting ready for the Bridal Con that's in April. Bookish news: I've become obsessed with the Ruin Series by K.F. Breene. I'm super disappointed that I have to wait until May for the 4th book. It ended on such a cliffhanger.
Other than that I've got a bunch of reviews to catch up on.
Anyway let me know how your weeks have been?

Lots of interesting books this week! I think giving books away to adults or kids is such a rewarding effort!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHow wonderful that you will be promoting Read Across America at your work. And giving away books is such a great experience. We used to have a World Book Night here in the US and publishers sent people books to give away. One year I got House on Mango Street in Spanish and I was able to give those away to parents at my school. Another year I got Because of Winn-Dixie, and we did a group readaloud with my second graders.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to get lost in a good series. The few times I've read series I generally wait until the whole series is out there before I start reading.
Thanks! I actually thought the whole thing was available but then discovered there was one more book.
DeleteYour little reading corner is adorable! I used to read a lot of Amanda Quick's books (and all her other names) When She Dreams looks great.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy! This is my first Amanda Quick book but it looks good.

ReplyDeleteLove the reading corner. I really want to pick up a K.F. Breene book.
